College Audition Info

Students interested in majoring or minoring in music in college need to start their application process early so they have time to sign up for auditions for admission and scholarships at their prospective school(s). Every college has slightly different requirements for auditions, but most require 2 prepared, memorized vocal songs. (If an instrument will be your main focus, be sure to check on the specific requirements for your instrument.)

*Most scholarship auditions are held in January and February, so you should try apply to your preferred college by November or December!*

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) opens October 1. EVERYONE planning on going to any college should fill out the FAFSA, whether you do music or not, as it is how you qualify for grants, work studies, and student loans.

You can contact EducationQuest any time to request help with applying for college, applying for financial aid, etc. It is a free service. Spend time on their website to find what resources they have available. https://www.educationquest.org/

Auditions held in Kearney on January 27, February 17, February 25, and March 6

University of Nebraska at Lincoln

Auditions held in Lincoln on February 3, 4, 17, and 18

University of Nebraska at Omaha

Apply no later than March 1 to be considered for scholarships.

Hastings College

Wayne State College

Wayne State auditions will be held in person February 10 and March 17, 2023. You do not need to be a music major to qualify for a scholarship!
